Covetous Mind

Covetous Mind

A Poem by Laylah

You look but it’s more like you’re starring - really.

Looking as if you know, staring as if you have authentic rights to that which you are gazing.

Glaring eyes fixated as though " captivated really.

Scrutinising, calculating eyes;

Analysing and assessing eyes filled with implausible lies!

Woe to whom falls prey, for the devil lays awake behind those devious eyes.

You look, more like starring really; scheming and judging most likely.

You look as if you know, perhaps wanting more than you really know - really!

Is it is just you or is it the other " the darkness?

Longing, desiring, aching, craving, yearning, - coveting; shame on you!

In your eyes it is clear there is something lacking.

You look as if you would or maybe not - change; it’s all the same to you " most definitely.

Perhaps, it is because of what you think you know, or maybe it’s the desire within that drives you.

You stare as if you know, but do you really?
