Chains

Chains

A Poem by Laylah

Enslaved to the chains that bind.

Captive; a prisoner to the demons that possess.

Dejected, I remain desperately oppressed.

O, the chains that bind when so tightly wound.

These chains they weigh me down and I remain forever bound.

Unbearable pains render me partially blind.

So intense, the pains drive me insanely wild.

Too blind to see the possibilities that lay ahead.

Frozen in time; I fear there’s nothing left to mend.

Hopelessness and despair consume me.

To find the strength - I must rise and fight.

Fight with all of my might, fight for what I know is right.

To escape and remain free from these chains that bind.

I must fight with all of my might until its daylight.

To never again, “ go gently into that good night”.
