Drowning

Drowning

A Poem by LawrenceRaybon
"

The first poem in a two poem series The second is 'And then I cried'

"
I'm drowning

The ocean
of tears I refuse
to cry fills
my everything
with its saline
bitterness

Hungry
For solitude
Starving
For company

And hands
Like taloned claws
Of resentment
Grab
Grip
Hold me
Under
With prideful power
Or powerful pride

I'm drowning

And gasping
Grasping
For that last
Bit
Breath
Hope

I see
The one
Who stands
Crying
Clinging
Pushing me
Down
Down
Down

It's me

I'm drowning
