Adversity, Danger and Fear

Adversity, Danger and Fear

A Poem by LawrenceRaybon
"

A poetic comment on our societies current tendency towards sheltering it's citizens.

"
We are the shapers, teachers and melders,
We are the tools of all the wise elders,
We are the makers of heroes sincere,
We are Adversity, Danger and Fear.

Without the challenges one will not grow.
Without exploration one can not know.
Adversity makes one strive to survive,
And so in that striving one will then thrive!

Then there is Danger, twin sister to care,
A constant reminder to stay aware.
When it is gone, caution thrown to the wind
An inane invite to an early end

And finally Fear, nature’s true teacher,
Whatever the cause, person or creature.
For in the face of fear courage will bloom,
Dispensing the strength to overcome doom.

So when we are gone, for comfort stamped out.
And all things are easy, no room for doubt.
Then civilization’s end will be near
And we shall return,
Adversity, Danger and Fear…
