My Dream

My Dream

A Poem by LawrenceRaybon
"

An acrostic response to MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech

"

I know that one day people will set aside their hatred.

Helping each other, because it is the right thing to do.

And they'll come to love the differences that make us all so very human.

Violence will become a thing of the past, a thing to be remembered with distaste.

Everyone, everywhere, free to live; free to love; free to be.

All people, regardless of birth or choice or any man-made misconceptions, free!

Drink in this vision of freedom friends!

Remember, it is up to each of us to bring about this felicitous future.

Earning the right to direct humanity's destiny by our actions.

Actions that will say and show our dedication to a brighter tomorrow.

Meandering though the path may be, every step I take shall be towards this goal!

hmmm...I guess my first response is that this is too preachy and not enough imagery. Try telling this using a metaphor...think...show don't tell and see what happens. Obviously the idea is wonderful! ;D

Very straight-forward form of writing. I have read about this theme but the road doesn't seem easy. It is a beautiful possibilty to ponder about though.

You have a positive and commendable outlook and mindset. Unfortunately as long as there is poverty, greed, prejudice and corruption there will always be crime and murders. I only wish it wasn't so.

I'm glad you liked it!
Amen! Well said! An echo of John Lenon's "imagine" and, of course, King's all too famous speech.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
That was wonderful, and it spelled out "I have a dream.". It inspired me to write the following:
In all Things
It's a "far better thing we do
than ever we have done before"
that we should possess moods of love,
not hateful harbinges of war.
