Love Like the Razor Blade

A poem I wrote for the 'Unique Love Story' contest.

I love you like the razor blade,

so sharp upon my skin.

The crimson drops, an ecstasy,

such sweet oblivion.

 

I love you like the manacles

forbidding me to stray.

The forcible surrender

compelling me to stay.

 

And I love you like the terror

crawling inside my brain.

The marks of ‘tender’ loving

 seducing me with pain.

 

And I love you like the bruises

of brown and black and blue,

and when I catch you sleeping

I’ll show I love you too.

Thanks so much for writing this for my contest! I absolutely adore this poem; I really identify with it. The sweet rhyming scheme really contrasts the subject matter, and especially the shock of the last line–the whole thing was beautiful to read.

Beautiful, every time I read it I draw something new out of it even with it being a relatively short poem. I love the twisted love and possessiveness. The last two lines sent shivers down my spine. Excellent work!
