It began in the year 2023, that was when everything we knew was changed. We thought we alone inhabited this world, that we were the Alpha species. But the truth is, we weren't; we weren't alone and we by far were not the strongest species. They lived underground, near the core of the world. They had been there since time began, biding their time until they were strong enough to take over the surface. Centuries and decades passed, their armies growing stronger every year. They disrupted our rather peaceful world, causing natural disasters or influencing tragedies. Then on April 15 of 2023, they attacked Europe, Asia, and Africa all at once, and in mere hours had almost wiped out everyone. The next day they invaded North and South America, along with Australia. We fought the best we could but our weapons did little more than bounce off them, they caught missiles and threw them back. These things were monsters and within a week the human population went from 7 billion to a mere 700 thousand. The survivors fled to Greenland, the only country not yet attacked. We had no weapons except for swords, shields, bats, lances, etc. Then one night one creature attacked one of the camps. But before it could injure anyone, it fell over dead. Behind the creature stood a man with an ax pointed in the direction of the dead beast. Smoke rose from the pointed end and the people thanked him endlessly. Then the leader of the camp asked the man "who are you? And how did you kill this...thing?"
The man did not answer at first, he sat down on the creature and lit a cigar. "I'll tell you everything. Then you must tell the other camps what I told you. My comrades are on their way."
The man told everyone of how a select group of people knew of these creatures and their activities. "The order, a group of individuals aware of the existence of these Shadows, that's what we call them. They knew our weapons would do nothing more than tickle them, so they built their own." He showed the camp his ax, which was an ax but as they looked closer they noticed a trigger by the handle. "Bullets don't hurt them and neither do missiles or nukes. But these do." He holds up the bullet he used "its a special bullet, developed from their bone structure. But we had no guns available to us so we engineered melee weapons, like the ones you use, that can shoot these bullets. And thanks to the support we got from the UN, we were able to mass produce these."
The man signals another man and he carries over a cart. In it are various weapons and firearms. The people run to the cart and start grabbing their weapons.
The man stands up and shouts "Today is the day we begin our comeback! Today you are warriors! Today the human race stands together to survive! Today we become the Light!"
