"Well, I know what will cheer you up," Laurynn said, looking back at me. I looked at Laurynn, I had a weird mixture of confusion and fright on my face. "Let's go…somewhere!" She exclaimed, smiling.

"Where do you think we're going, honey?" Vic asked. Laurynn smiled at the word 'honey'. I saw out of the corner of my eye that Jake had looked over. I looked up and Jake smiled to me. I smiled back.

"And where, do you think, can I go with a leg cast?" I said, looking back to Laurynn, who was grinning stupidly in my direction.

"The Movies! Duh! Where else?" She said, managing to remain smiling while speaking. I looked out the window, the warm rays of the sun hitting my light blue shirt and my face. I sighed at the trees that were zipping by.

"I hate cars…" I said to myself, wishing I could walk. "But no I'm stuck here with Vic and His smiley girlfriend." I growled and mumbled at the same time. I felt a small tap on my shoulder, and when I looked over, it was Jake. Oh yeah, he was here. I completely forgot about him. "Yes?" I said, confusion being spread across my face like butter on toast.

"Sorry, I mean about Xavier…" He said, giving me a weak smile.

My eyes widened, "What about Xavier?" I said, suddenly remembering the car got hit on the passenger side. "Where is he?" Jake's face dropped.

"Vic didn't tell you?" He said, moving a piece of hair from my face. I shook my head. He sighed, "Xavier… He died instantly, no pain, nothing… a snapped neck."

I felt the tears come instantly. My best friend for 8 years, my boyfriend for 3 of those years, he couldn't be… gone. I looked down, putting my head in my hands. "Vic… Can we just go home?" I said to the front of the car, not caring what Laurynn, Jake, or Vic thought.

I couldn't see anything but I figured that Vic had nodded in agreement, and turned around to take us all home. But when we arrived, my face was dry from my crying. They all tried to walk into the house, but I couldn't stand Laurynn, she was too smiley for my taste.

"Can… I just hang out with Jake?" I said, looking to them "You guys can go to Starbucks of something…" I said, knowing I used a good Arrow, and hit my target.

"YEAH!" Laurynn shouted, "Let's go to Starbucks Vic!" She said, grabbing his hand and  pulling him towards the door.

"Okay! Okay!" He said. "We'll see you in an hour or so." He said, as he finally allowed Laurynn to pull him outside.

I smiled, finally relaxing since I left the foster home. I smiled down at the wall and then hobbled my way to the living room, which was a lot bigger than any room I've ever been in after the age of 10.

I looked over at Jake, who was staring at me. "Why do you look through everything?" He said, catching me off-guard. "I mean, you don't really seem to like Laurynn… But you only just met her."

I sighed, and looked at the ground. "It's cause she's trying o be optimistic… and I really can't be right now. I just got out of a foster home, and nearly died in the first few minutes!"

Jake Laughed, and I followed suit. We talked until Laurynn and Vic came and about nothing at all. Just random stuff, like I'd known him my whole life.

I think this may be worth it after all.
