Chasing the Thought Away: 3A Story by Laurynn Fuentes c:*Emily's part :D*

Never did I think that I'd be tangled up in this mess in a foreign town, but then again, you never know what happens in New York these days. Plus, I didn't even know That she was here too, but low and behold, here she was laying in front of me, just barely hanging onto life. I've known her for years, her brother having gone to the same school as me, with her following up a grade behind us. Of course, things weren't very easy back then for her either. Emma and Greg's father died in a car accident when Emma was 4, causing Greg and Emma to walk to school. Then their Mother died of a heart attack at the age of 35- when Emma was 10- which then they were placed in Foster care. Then, Greg died a few months ago, because he was hit by a car with a drunk driver. Emma's life basically has been devoted to death. A nurse came into the room every hour, hoping that she had moved in the hour that they were waiting, yet nothing happened. Suddenly, I was scared of losing my friend, my little sister. Not even the fact that Laurynn was there with me could calm my nerves. "She'll be fine." Laurynn kept saying, trying to persuade me into thinking, but sometimes things just seem too obvious to ignore. "She might not be…" I said to her, sitting down for the 14 billionth time since arriving yesterday. "Laurynn… This is too obvious to ignore, look! The colors fading from her body. She'll more than likely only hold out til the end of the day." I said, looking over at Laurynn. "You can't know that for sure." Laurynn stated, looking back into my eyes. "She could be stronger than you think…" I shook my head, No. No she wouldn't make it, Her heartbeat is going down, her color was draining… her lips had already turned a shade of grey. "I doubt it Laurynn." I said, looking down to the ground. And if she did pull through, She was going to get a big punch in the gut for scaring the crap out of me. One thing I did ask, was who died in the car accident. The nurse looked to the folder she was holding and to Emma before answering. "An Xavier Stone. broken neck, painless and quick death." I looked down again. I recognized the name, Emma's boyfriend of 3 years. If she pulled through… she was going to need a hug more than anything. I had offered to take Laurynn and Jake home, but both disagreed saying I wasn't going to be there alone if she died, and I took the gesture from them both very happily. "How come I've never heard of her before now?" Laurynn said the next day, when we were settling into the corner. I looked down to my chest and into her beautiful bright blue eyes and smiled. "I haven't talked to her since her brother died, like we both expected, but now I kinda feel bad…" I said to her, but after the mention of Greg, I looked up to the ceiling. My thoughts absorbed all my surroundings and made me relive my memories. Greg and I chasing Emma and her friend, Greg, Emma, and I watching a Saturday night smack down, Emma's face when Greg took a tumble down a paved hill, Then Emma's face at his funeral. Laurynn shifted and kissed me, which pulled me out of my trance-like memories. And I heard a small stirring from my side, I looked over half-expecting Emma, but it was just Jake. This was going to be a while…. © 2012 Laurynn Fuentes c:Author's Note
