I've Hung These Fears in Hallways

My heart has missed yours...

Fire couldn't tame the flame of

How well we matched.

These feelings bubble to the surface

Until only the writing on the walls

Can interpret those singed words.

Remnants reveal much to many

Yet unique to us

It's been too long

Since I've devoted my heart to you.

I've retired from happy

and hung these fears in hallways.

This way, I have to walk through them.

You taught me that

In this way, I have returned;

You welcomed me home

Has the sound of a lost love recalled. It seemed to be a perfect match then, but something caused a parting of the ways. The impression is that there may have been other loves since, but none matched the intensity of this one. Whether there is the possibility of a renewal is not touched upon, but that time still lives on in the speaker's heart. A moving, well written piece here.
