Hold OnA Poem by LaurieroseArms wide openWhen the last rock has crumbled
And you’re holding on to the very edge Slipping away where the unknown linger As the apprehension grows, you’ve lost grip to the last finger The rocks give away and the sweat builds to your head Just the mention of “rock bottom” isn't too far ahead Though in reality, that’s how it tends to feel Falling face forward in something less real I remember the time when I was at that stage It seems so far now, almost a different age When we were at the rocky part of the path Where we hurt one another for each other's behalf I almost fell and lost the grips too But when things came crashing down on that avalanche I began to think the highest of you Loving you is something that you can’t find in a book I just held on, and that seemed the best advice I ever took © 2018 Laurierose |
