Are You Asleep?
A Poem by
Lauriegirl
I spend my time,
When you are gone,
Just listening,
To a favourite song,
Or gazing somewhere,
Up above,
Or write a sonnet,
Words of love,
They tumble, tortured,
From the sky,
I’m feeling low,
And feeling high,
Distracted,
That’s the way to be,
I watch a movie,
On the telly,
I catch the news,
On bbc1,
Storm and tempest,
Strike again,
So difficult,
To contemplate,
They’re queuing up,
At Heaven’s Gate,
I sit a while,
Commiserate,
And say a prayer,
It’s getting late,
And thankful now,
For you and me,
Discard the scene,
That’s on the telly
And in the quiet,
Time to weep,
Where are you now?
Are you asleep?

so sad...I still live as if we are together...I wait upon your arrival...set in my denial...
and then the realization...I am alone...and I wonder where you are and if you are resting comfortably, without me.

Nicely written. Delivers a variety of emotions with its narration.

It's a frenetic read, the frustration is palpable, well done Laurie.

The content is so emotional. You have expressed yourself very well. The title pulls a reader in.
