The Last Cough Before The Grave

The Last Cough Before The Grave

A Poem by Lauriegirl

When love is dead
we note the lie
that is blatant in the corpse.
Limbs that once appeared to dance
are now seen to have been
twitching their last, long twitch.

That which seemed once
to have been an eternity
is now revealed as a spasm
between the spank of life
and the last cough before the grave.

This is very deep and emotionally impacting. They way you describe the words with a dark, yet beautiful tone is exquisite. Thank you for sharing.

This piece has a lot of reflection in it, a look inward as well as backward.

A poem easily read twice, triwce and more
with the meaning sinking in deeper and deeper each pass.
Love isn't to blame, after all, he's dead...
Was it the love's passing that gave back the insight, the wisdom, the clear view? One wonders...
Very good poem. Straight to the core!

Very Gothic because of the words you used such as corpse. The mood and tone is recognizable instantly. I really like it!
