DamageA Poem by Laurenm
Fragile to touch the power colour
of crimson red. Glistening, gleaming, glowing; Capturing the surrounding light. Inhaling droplets, contrasting colours of red and green the stalk thirsty for recognition - for affection. Revenge so bitter, thorns like knives. Ready to cut ready to protect the petals delicate flesh Vulnerable like a wound It's outer beauty healing the knifes cut. Leaves like veins, pumping blood to the surface, The cheeks blush from constant admiration. Starting with beauty ending with regret as the greed to have damages the takers. Blood dripping from the flesh of each petal, circling ripples into a pool below. Each droplet rolling Down each cheek, vulnerable and weak, damaging the delicate face. Petals fall, Shedding like skin. But not from sun burn Does the flesh erode - but death. Even when protected, Like young children: Growing, experiencing, until earths time decays all. © 2016 Laurenm |
