Maya was Dead (at Least to Me)

Grace goes to the mall with Maya and discovers Maya has a few little suprises in store.

"So…umm…what mall are we going to? Never mind that won't help me I rarely go to the mall." I asked as I entered her VW bug. (So LUCKY! I had a year to wait!)

"Fair Kings, if you want to know. I told Matt to join us, I thought he would have some pretty good advice being a boy and all." I groaned.
"Let me guess, you figured since he was popular and like buddy-buddy with Zach  what more perfect person, right? And of course, you told him the whole story and he'll go tell Zach who will avoid me for the rest of his life because, really, who hangs out with the loser, not to mention it's clear he's in love with Michaela." I exclaimed

"Grace," She looked at me disapprovingly, "you really believe that?"

"Well? It's possible."

"I told him you were interested in a new look. Nothing odd. You wanted a boyfriend and you were planning on making some changes. That's it. Also, Matt is the sweetest guy on the planet. Even if I did tell him, he would keep quite if I told him to."

I glared at her playfully, "You better hope so, your life is depending on him, missy."

"Oh don't worry, I'm not worried at the least. Wait, 'til you see the other
surprise I arranged." she smiled slyly.

"Uh oh" I muttered under my breath as I looked out the window.

 

As I walked down the mall practically brushing hands with Zach Miles, I simply couldn't breath. Maya was dead when I got my hands on her.

"So…what stores do you like, Zach?" Maya asked

"Oh, you know, the norm. Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostale."

"Oh! Grace's outfits from Abercrombie, do you like it?"

"Umm…I guess" OK, that girl is REALLY going to get it. Zach looked at Gracie with a look that said "what's with her?", then took a real look at her outfit. She shrugged and smiled. Wow! Had that really happened he actually noticed her. What a day! Maybe Maya wasn't so dead.

"Hey, I'm thirsty, let's get a drink. Here's the ice cream parlor. Maybe get an ice cream at the same time." said Zach

"Sure!" They all chimed in.

"May I take your order." the teenage cashier sighed in a monotone.

" Four cones, one scoop each. Cool guys?" Zach ordered. "Oh! And a
water." To order and then check with everyone if that was OK? There was
something so enticing about that. And cool guys? How simple was that. So laid back and chill. It was true he was her modern day prince charming and everything he did made her swoon.

After they got their ice creams, they exited the ice cream parlor and walked over to Hollister.

"May I take your order?" Zach imitated the tennage cashier as soon as he was out of ear shot. I giggled at his imitation. I looked over at Maya and Matt only to realize they had dissapeared at some point towards our destination.
