Dark Knight

Dark Knight

A Poem by Laura Storm

I had the sun in my eyes,

the sea in my veins.

Flowers in my lungs

and I never felt pain.

Then along came the knight,

his armor dark and red,

his sword pierced my heart

and for the first time....i bled.

My eyes shed stars

and the sea ran dry.

I drank in his poison

until all the flowers dead,

Then once I was empty

my knight quickly left,

my flowers in hand

ripped straight through my chest.

I did not feel pain

I could not feel fear

but the moon was soon rising

and all became clear

Now the moons in my eyes

and ice in my veins

Thorns in my lungs

and I only feel pain

I chased after my knight

dressed all in black lace

and as long as he ran

I kept up the chase

Now I'm the one leaving

my knight lying dead

his flowers ripped out

and his veins dripping red.

maudlin piece, with such starkly naked images...really good stuff...

really like some of the odd but creative phrasing..."flowers in my lungs"---"my eyes shed stars"--i really like that one...

it feels good when the tables get turned...
