InnocenceA Poem by Laura Storm
She looked and saw her innocence,
broken splayed across the floor and in the darkened moment, children's tears where shed no more. She never told her friends, and never spoke to her teachers. He swore if she told there would be pain, to young to understand he saw it as a game. Shaking and scared she played alone. Teachers and students dismissed her, brushing her off as shy or introverted. No would looked to see how she was drowning in the hurt. Her soul was crush and bleeding, her hope had long since fled, and now as she waits for her father you can find her on the corner where innocence was dead. © 2014 Laura Storm |
