Nights are Always the Loneliest

Nights are Always the Loneliest

A Poem by Laura Sui
"

in a fit of depression

"

Nights are always the loneliest

Especially around 3:00 am.

You can’t describe what you feel,

Can you?

It’s like a raging, insatiable hand,

And it keeps pulling

And pulling

And pulling

You down

And no one’s there to pull you up.

I suppose that’s just how some things are,

Aren’t they?

I’m sure that loneliness

Is a burden everyone receives at some point.

But for me,

It feels like an often-visiting acquaintance.

Slightly unwelcomed,

But so familiar.

So I let it stay.

If someone else would stay,

That would be nice.
