JigsawA Poem by Laura Harrison
I love how some things
can bring back certain memories: like that song you played for me that ended up being ours or how seeing 5 pence reminds me of when we lay in my back garden staring at the stars. It's like having a scrapbook inside your mind, each memento that you stumble upon transporting you back to that moment in time. It could be anything from a smell to a sound; memories that you thought you had lost will always be found and it fascinates me how the mind works this way how it can conjure up a flashback even if it's been so long since everything changed. Because I haven't seen you in what feels like forever but I still so vividly remember everything that happened when we were together and I no longer feel sad that we couldn't make our love last, I no longer feel like I wasted all the time that we had because everything that happens in life, every memory that gets stored makes up the person I am and the person I will become. It's like a jigsaw puzzle that you've undertook: it takes a while to put together and sometimes the pieces don't fit where you think they should but eventually the puzzle will be finished and all the precious time spent will absolutely be worth it. I'm looking forward to building the jigsaw of my life, to placing the last piece in that empty space and knowing that I finally got it right. © 2020 Laura HarrisonReviews
