When Tragedy Happens

When Tragedy Happens

A Poem by Laura Harrison

When tragedy happens,
We want the world to stop
But it keeps on spinning
And life goes on-
Even though there are people
Who just had their last breath robbed,
Even though there are children
Who won't get to grow up.

When tragedy happens,
We can only imagine the fear,
The thoughts that ran through their minds
As they ran for their lives.
We can only imagine what it's like
For all the families left behind.

When tragedy happens,
We do all we can-
We leave flowers and our condolences,
We raise awareness and cash.
But there's nothing we can do
To turn back the time
Nothing we do
Can bring them back to life.

When tragedy happens,
We remembers past attacks,
When they broke our hearts
But they could never break us.

I think the last two lines are very powerful and very positive/inspirational. The poem overall really shows emotion.

Tragedy may highlight the worst in some but tragedy also brings out the best in the many. A very poignant and thought provoking emotional poem. Bless you.. :-)

As long as some people love greed and power, tragedy will always be with us, sad to say.

You are right my friend.
"When tragedy happens,
We remembers past attacks,
When they broke our hearts
But they could never break us."
Life is lesson bad and good. The above lines are true and solid. This had been a hard week for this world. My prayers are for Manchester.

one tragedy brings back memories of the last attack,
idiotic people with no purpose but hate will always be with us

No words are powerful enough to offer condolences, beautifully voiced...
