We Are Going to DieA Poem by Laura Harrisoninspired by Shane Koyczan's poem 'Pinned To The Dish.'
Eventually, we are going to die.
That is the only thing that we know is going to happen for certain. So why are we so afraid of living? Why are we so afraid Of being who we really are or doing what we want to do? Because one day, this life will be taken away and only then will we finally realise what have I done with my life? Only then will we regret all the chances we didn’t take and all the things we didn’t say. So write that book you’ve always wanted to write, travel to that country you’ve always wanted to see, become the person you used to tell yourself you were one day going to be. Do not let the belief in an afterlife stop you from doing something with your life now. Because despite how careful you are, despite how healthy you try to be- the only thing in life that is guaranteed is that is doesn’t last forever and we could die at any given moment whether we want to accept it or not. And as much as I want to believe that there’s more to life than this, that at the end we’re going to get rewarded- as far as we know, this is the only life we’re going to get. So take it. This is your life. Live it. © 2016 Laura HarrisonReviews
