The Other Part Of Me

The Other Part Of Me

A Poem by Laura Harrison

When you left

a part of me left with you

and the part that remains

is just trying to make it through;

through the loss, the pain

through the wishing you were here

to get me through the hardest days.

I hope the other part of me is doing well

and that she still has you to hold her up

whenever the world is coming down around her

whenever she feels like she’s not strong enough.

I hope that you haven’t abandoned her

like you abandoned me

that she isn’t right this moment

wandering alone on the corner of the street.

But in all honesty

I hope the other part of me

never made her way to you

because I know that inevitably

you would leave her too.

wow, yes....and maybe she is writing the exact same poem now as the speaker has written...he just keeps moving on...leaving hearts broken.

Amazing heartbreaking poem written in graceful simplicity. I love this.

Resuming a life when someone really special leaves us is really difficult. I love the way you presented the multiple emotions in simple language. I can see a lot of hope and wishes for the special one. Such feelings can be evolved only in a loving heart. I appreciate both the write and the heart.

That was really interesting, and I'm sorry you have to go through that. The way you described it though, it was really deep and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed it
