You Look at me Like I'm Everything I'm Not

You Look at me Like I'm Everything I'm Not

A Poem by Laura Harrison

You look at me as If I put the stars in the sky

but please don’t expect me to be extraordinary

I am nothing special

I’m just a normal person

there are going to be days when I get mad

or sad

or days when I can’t even be bothered to get out of bed.

You look at me as if I am Cleopatra

or Joan of Arc

but I am not a strong woman

there are going to be times

when I will shut myself off from the world

when I will build walls around my heart

and I won’t want to see anyone

including you.

You look at me

and you see something about me

that I can’t see

but you never expect me

to be something I can’t ever be

and despite all these terrible traits

I’ve listed about myself

I know that you will always stay

because you look at me

and I hear

“I love you.”

You look at me and I hear "I love you."
Love is blind at times. And I am grateful.
A beautiful poem.

Nice flow of thoughts led to the very good ending.
"I know that you will always stay
because you look at me
and I hear
“I love you.”
Love make all things perfect. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

A normal person loving someone passionately and selfishly is always extraordinary. Nice write Laura :)

Love should be knowing all the above and still making the other person feel they are everything :) Lovely...

Beautifully honest. I believe accepting your defects is on of the best qualities a person can have.
Great work!
