Making Peace With YourselfA Poem by Laura HarrisonIt won’t happen instantly but gradually like a slow burning candle and it won’t be handed to you like the gift you’ve always wanted on Christmas Day you will need to work hard at it to fight your way through the insecurities that feast on your mind telling you that you are not worthy you will need to break down the walls that stop you from letting yourself in that stop you from accepting yourself. I know you think that this is impossible but you know as well as anyone that nothing in life comes easy but that doesn’t mean that you should stop trying so take a deep breath or maybe two let the bad thoughts wash over you like the roaring waves as the tide comes in say to yourself that you don’t need to be perfect and it is okay to make mistakes keep repeating this until you believe in it because one day, you will wipe off the debris and all the destruction that hating yourself created and you will stand up tall in the midst of it all and you will realise that all those years you were at war with yourself were never peaceful and next time you prepare to go into battle you will remind yourself that it’s not wars that make peace but people. © 2015 Laura HarrisonReviews
