Heart On My SleeveA Poem by Laura HarrisonMy feelings were etched upon my skin for the world to see and you left as soon as I got the chance to tell you with my
lips I guess I was a stupid girl for even trying to get close to
you I guess I didn’t want to believe the rumours were true: “he’s a bad boy, don’t get involved with him” “he will crush your heart and make you feel like you’re
nothing.” But I told you how I felt about you and held my breath and in the next heartbeat; you left. These scars are etched upon my skin for the world to see and I guess that means that they define me I guess I was a stupid girl for turning to the blade but that doesn’t give you the right to send me hate “push deeper, nobody needs you” “everyone will be happier when your life is over”. Yes, in the past I made some mistakes but in the past is where they have stayed. And I’ve always worn my heart upon my sleeve but I’ve yet to discover where it’s gotten me so I will return it to where it’s supposed to stay inside my chest, locked and chained. © 2014 Laura HarrisonReviews
