Tell Me Again

Tell Me Again

A Poem by Laura Harrison

I have that red dress on

the one that I wore when we first met

and my lips are painted crimson to match

yet I still don’t have any confidence in me

tell me again that I’m pretty.

I’m crying again

for the second time today

and I don’t even know why

all I know

is that you make everything better

when you say those magical three words

tell me again that you love me.

My mind is playing tricks on me

telling me that we won’t last

that you’ll get bored of me

like a novelty that is no longer new

tell me again that you’ll never leave.

I’m feeling worthless

like I don’t matter to anybody

but you look at me

like I put the stars in the sky

tell me again that I’m your everything.

This is to tragically poignant. Again I feel every word, feel your desperation to be seen for who you are.
