The Power of Nature

The Power of Nature

A Poem by Laura Harrison

It’s 12:30am

and you’re walking me home

when we stop

to gaze at the full moon

I’m thinking about

how insignificant

it makes me feel

like how a moth

must feel

when it crosses paths

with a butterfly

I think

about the sun

and the stars

and the flowers

and the trees

and all of

the beautiful things

that were here

on Earth

before us

and it makes me smile

the fact

that they haven’t

been destroyed.
