The Power of Nature

The Power of Nature

A Poem by Laura Harrison

It’s 12:30am

and you’re walking me home

when we stop

to gaze at the full moon

I’m thinking about

how insignificant

it makes me feel

like how a moth

must feel

when it crosses paths

with a butterfly

I think

about the sun

and the stars

and the flowers

and the trees

and all of

the beautiful things

that were here

on Earth

before us

and it makes me smile

the fact

that they haven’t

been destroyed.

People tend to take the world and nature for granted because they assume that it will always be there.Very cool poem :)

I love this. The beauty of this world goes unnoticed and rarely admired too much of the time. Simple & beautiful. (:

I like how you let your feelings go out the heart. All verses are beautiful and much appreciative.

I love this. Especially because we chatted about nature just the other day! Beautiful poem, and you've got it spot on. It is beautiful that they haven't been destroyed. Wonderful write!

I like how this free verse poem drops down the page like a rope ladder. Does anything really exist if it isn’t noticed by some form of conscious awareness? We are that wonder of the universe that enables the universe to take note of itself. In the Quantum Theory Schrodinger cat experiment the cat is neither dead nor alive until we notice it. Consciousness has a strange power over its domain.

A wonderful poem. You really are a skilled writer, and wise beyond your years.

I like the Native American view. First the bear and wolf may be gone. Man will follow. Nature changes daily and she will survive. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
