To Lose Someone You Love

To Lose Someone You Love

A Poem by Laura Harrison

I know what it feels like to lose someone you love

to have your heart shattered into a million pieces

when you realise that they are gone.

There have been many times that I have rang your mobile

forgetting that it will just go straight to voicemail

and your black leather jacket is still hanging in my wardrobe

I keep hoping that you will come to pick it up

but even if that was possible

I know that you wouldn’t want to

because the last words that I said to you were

“I hate you”

yet there was so much more left unsaid when you left me

why did you have to leave so abruptly

I wish that we had a second chance to start all over again.

I know what it feels like to lose someone you love

but it’s live you’re living in a world with no air

when the person that you’ve lost of still alive

but not willing to give you another try.
