Let Me Treat You Like A Book

Let Me Treat You Like A Book

A Poem by Laura Harrison

Let me treat you like a book

I want to read you from beginning to end

to discover the story that lies within you

I want to sit with you beside a burning fire

with a cup of hot chocolate

while it’s raining outside

allow me to breathe in your beautiful scent

and to stroke your spine with my fingertips

I want to take care of you

and to make sure that you never get damaged

or gather dust in your heart

I want to be the person who will never tire of you

and I want to carry you with me wherever I go

let me treat you like a book

because you know that I would never

do anything to hurt one of those.

This is very beautiful Laura:) I so know and feel that feeling inside but having it seems idk, One can long in a memory or vision. Its nice to know some one else writes the passions of a burning heart, I love the metaphor of the book:)

I like the connection you draw between the book and someone you love. It's definitely a new twist on the whole love poem idea, but when it's written this way it seems more real, and I like that. Well done.

Beautiful words, it`s a very nice way to expressing the love to someone. I enjoyed reading this poem.

This describes my love for books as well. In fact, I think I am more concerned about the welfare of my books than with people. Well, sometimes. ;) I know many bookworms and happily in love people can relate to this.

Nice imagery here-- book and a book lover. In our lives there will be someone who will be interested to us, wanted to read/know us like a book.
Simply beautiful!

That is such sweet sentiment you expressed… when we truly care about someone we should ant to know everything, especially the things no one else knows.

This is very well written. I love the comparison. You are exceptionally good with metaphors. Love the last line in particular. Shelving it. Xx.
