There Will Come A Day

There will come a day

when you will get your heart trampled on

by the one you thought you were in love with;

he will leave you waiting for him

like that bus that should have showed up twenty minutes ago.

 

There will come a day

when you will be made to feel worthless

like the white crayon that no-one’s ever going to use

and every day after that

will be a constant battle

between staying in bed

or getting up and facing the world.

 

There will come a day

when you consider giving up on life-

when falling asleep permanently

seems like a better option than having hope

because when has that ever worked for you before?

 

But lots of bad days

don’t add up to a bad life

and there will come a day

when everything falls into place;

just like that advanced jigsaw puzzle

that took you three months to complete

there will come a day

when life gives you a reason to stay

all you have to do is wait for it.
