I'm Not Going AnywhereA Poem by Laura HarrisonI’m lying
here in my bed Thinking of
a way to make this pain end Pills and
vodka or a bullet through the brain Anything to
stop me from going even more insane
There is
music on my stereo, playing on shuffle Just
incessant noise to quieten my shuffles And to drown
out the voices in my head Then a
melodic voice breaks through my reverie Singing “I’m
thankful that I’m not dead”
I sit up and
listen and dry my eyes Maybe I
don’t need to say my final goodbye The singer
talks about a time when he was feeling so down That he
couldn’t find a reason for him to stick around Yet he found
a way to end his troubles He saw the
light at the end of the tunnel
When the
song ends, a smile forms on my face I’m thinking
that maybe this world isn’t that bad a place There’s
someone who understands what I’m going through And maybe
there’s someone who cares And for now,
I’m not going anywhere © 2014 Laura HarrisonReviews
