Healthy HabitA Poem by Laura HarrisonI can see
your eyes stealing glances at my wrists can see the
cogs in your mind whirring deciding
whether or not to believe me when I tell
you that I’m fine worry lines
are etched upon your face as you run
your fingers down the scars on my bare arms, searching for
the hint of a recent one
People say
that old habits die hard but you
found me and made me see that I would
be the one to die if I didn’t stop so when you looked
me in the eyes and told me
that you loved me for the first time I realized
that you were my healthy habit- my amazing
addiction
You gave me
the courage to peel off the layers hiding my
shameful secret you told me
once that every
mark on my skin are un-inked
tattoos of the terrible places I have been but ones
that I should cherish, not conceal for I found
my way back to happiness again I found a
way to love and feel again © 2014 Laura HarrisonReviews
