New YearA Poem by Laura HarrisonSo tomorrow is a new year A new chance to put the wrongs in our life right And to make ourselves into a new person But what if we actually were born again each New Year? Like a phoenix rising from the ashes What if our lives started anew? And every mistake that we had made was erased Every bad memory, vanished?
There are times when I wish that I could start all over When life gets on top of me And I am drowning in a sea of my mistakes I just want a clean slate. But then I realize That I wouldn’t just forget about the bad things in my life But also the good So maybe I wouldn’t start my life again even if I could
In life, there is never a straight road Nothing ever goes smoothly And sometimes, we make mistakes But we need to realize that this is okay None of us are perfect but all of us are great So instead of waiting for the New Year Let’s make the most of the life that we have today © 2013 Laura HarrisonAuthor's Note
