Salted Wounds

Salted Wounds

A Poem by Laura Harrison

I pour salt onto my wounds as a metaphor for how you broke my heart

Once wasn’t enough for you;

You had to come back in like a wrecking ball

And re-destroy the damage that had already been done on your way out

Now you’re back again

And I know you will eventually leave again too

But it’s fine- because I still have these blades and some salt

To remind me that it’s all my fault
