When I Put Pen To Paper

When I Put Pen To Paper

A Poem by Laura Harrison

When I put pen to paper,

All my troubles get cast away,

Almost as if I was never afraid

The words leap from my heart

Straight onto the page-

Another piece of poetry that I have made.

When I put pen to paper,

I pour out my soul

I write about all that I have ever known

The pen is my friend,

It makes me feel less alone

When I put pen to paper,

I am once again whole.

I really liked reading this piece... Here lately this piece reminds me a lot of what I have been writing... It just has the same feel to it as a few of mine from my "Poetic Series." If you haven't checked those out I really recommend you to do so... But I believe us as writers have an easier time to pour ourselves on paper than to speak word of mouth... And you nailed it girl that we as writers feel like the world is non existent when we sit down to write... I know my pen is one of my best friends... I actually wrote a poem about my pen "Carl" dying/ running out of ink in my "Poetic Series." Anyway great job and keep up the great work... I really look forward to reading more of your work... 100/100

You're absolutely right, it's much better to take our feelings out on paper than on our skin. i shal.. read more

this is all very true. before i started writing i felt really lost like something was missing from me but i couldn't put my finger on it. the day i started writing, i immediately felt a sense of self. its strange how sometimes i completely lose myself in my writing and end up with something i didn't think i had the capacity to create. one of my favorite things about it is at the end having so many people to connect and resonate with it and interpret it in ways you never thought of. thanks for sharing this!

Nice connection between both. Meditation in one form.

When I put my pen on paper I feel ...free. A place where I can do anything; without being held back. Paper, an old friend who I can confide in. I love how this poem is relatable, emphatic(?).

I write for the same reason. Good to release thoughts and pain to pen and paper. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

It's why we all write, in poetry form!

This such a sincere and affecting piece, especially to a fellow writer. We all can relate to the position you were writing from.
