Your Pain Is No Worse Than Anyone Else's

Your Pain Is No Worse Than Anyone Else's

A Story by Laura Harrison

It’s a sad fact in this world that everyone is hurting in some way or another;

Whether it be because of break up’s or never being loved,

Suffering from an eating disorder or self-harm.

But I know people who like to compare their pain to other people and say that theirs is worse, making you feel as if you don’t have the right to be hurting because they are too.

Or they invalidate people’s struggles because “they got through it fine.”

Pain should not be comparable; everybody’s hardships are real and just as difficult as everybody else’s

And it’s hard enough to live with pain without people telling you that it’s not as bad as theirs

So I think that instead of treating pain like a competition, we should help each other to wade through our struggles because it’s tough when you’re crying alone in your room with no-one to turn to, because the only people you thought you could trust told you to “get over it.”

But if we all came together as a unity of broken people, perhaps we could each help to put someone back together.

You are very wise my young friend.I think I heard someone say ,your pain is always going to feel like it is worst than someone else's by the mere fact that it is your pain and you when you are hurting feel like it is worst than anyone else could ever feel.Although this does not justify telling yourself that someone else is not feeling that exact same way.
