MarionettesA Poem by Laura HarrisonWe are marionettes; All the
time, people tell us what to do, how to behave- “Become a
doctor, it’s good money” they say Or “wear
make- up, you look prettier with it.” So what’s
the point of having a mind if we can’t think for ourselves? Our lives
are a blank canvas that we let other’s paint- We can’t do
things without worrying whether everyone else will approve So we just
follow the life that was set out for us when we were still in our mother’s womb But we
should find the strength to cut off our strings And walk in
our own shoes, Because after
we die, it doesn’t matter what job we had We will never
be good enough for everyone else So let’s
learn to be good enough for ourselves. © 2013 Laura HarrisonReviews
