Everyone Dies But Not Everyone Lives

Everyone Dies But Not Everyone Lives

A Poem by Laura Harrison

You’re alive

And you think that’s enough

But what about your dream job that you turned down yesterday?

And that guy you like that you keep pushing away?

Every opportunity is a blessing;

Most of them you only get once

So when one arrives, you should grasp it with both hands

Grab it quick while you can

You’re young and free,

So live each day like it’s your last

Do whatever you want and don’t worry about the consequence

Live your life with confidence

And I know that you’re scared to face reality

But what will you have to show for your life when you are 50?

Will you still be holed up in your bedroom on the internet all day,

Wishing your life would just go away?

The title brought me in and the word gave me motivation.
"Every opportunity is a blessing;
Most of them you only get once
So when one arrives, you should grasp it with both hands
Grab it quick while you can"
The above lines are very true. Take no chances. Know no victories. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

I like the message behind this, it's one of the truest I've heard in awhile :)

What a fresh burst of wisdom! Young people like me are indeed plagued by doubt, a great fear of failure particularly if they are someone like me where more than just myself would suffer for my failure, and feel burdened by the expectations of society. I also like how this gives advice without sounding judgmental. Perhaps because you are a millennial like me but have wisdom on level of people well past their teens and twenties

You did an amazing job writing this. I almost felt like you were looking in my life and wrote it as encouragement just for me. It was really personal and relate able. Thank you for sharing. I needed this. ^^ xo Winter

This poem is my inspiration to get out of the usual and average, and just jump into the exciting realities which life has to offer. This poem reminds me of Nickelback's "If Today Was Your Last Day"

A very thrilling poem
