Just Another Stranger

Just Another Stranger

A Poem by Laura Harrison

Isn’t it kind of funny how someone who was once strangers to us can all of a sudden become our soul mate?

How we can get to know their deepest secrets and fears and find out they are more like us than we could have ever known

How we can wake up in the morning looking forward to when we get to see them

And how we can feel comfortable spending the rest of our lives with this person.

But isn’t it funny how that same person could just walk out of our lives at any time

And we have to spend the next couple of years trying to forget them

Trying to forget the freckles on their back or the way their mouth curled up at the edges when they kissed us

And when we walk past them in the street, we have to pretend like they are just another stranger to us.

You're welcome :P
Insightful. This is an interesting way to look at things. It reminds me to never take a person for granted, because we may not know who they truly are. Wonderful poem.
