Different Day, Same Place

Different Day, Same Place

A Poem by Laura Harrison

When I was a young girl,

I would close my eyes when going for a ride out in my dad’s car

And I would imagine that I was someplace far away;

In the jungle, making friends with Tarzan and Jane

Or playing with the Lost Boys down in Neverland.

I always wanted to be an explorer.

But now, I have never ventured outside of my own country

My friends come home from New York and Spain every half term

Suitcases laden with souvenirs and memories.

I want to jump on the next plane out of here

But inside my mind is a feeling of fear

Because I am already lost in my comfort zone

What would happen if I got lost so far away from home?

This is nicely penned, especially thAt last line. It brings the rest home. "Buy the ticket, take the ride."

I was having just this conversation with someone the other day, about fear, and dreams. Our dreams are the most important things we have and we cannot abandon them and must do something, just one thing everyday to work towards them, or we are not truly living. I also like the bit about Neverland :)
