A Poem For All The Boys Who Tried To Save MeA Poem by Laura HarrisonYou treat my
depression like it’s some project for you to tackle, But know
that every sweet nothing you whisper in my ear will only make me loathe you As I want to be the one who tells me how
perfect I am. If you are
trying to make me feel something, then it isn’t working; Your fingers
can’t do magic tricks- They won’t
make me feel any less hollow by stroking my spine I refuse to
sink like all the ships that were designed to swim But I don’t
want you to be the anchor holding me down. My parents
once told me that happiness comes from within And I’m
pretty sure they didn’t mean, “From within
arrogant boys looking for the next best thing to get bored of” I guess you
believe in all that fairy-tale bullshit about how women are damsels in
distress Well, listen
up, honey The world
has moved on from princesses and dragons, So I don’t
want you to be my knight in shining armour. © 2013 Laura HarrisonFeatured Review
