Life or Death

Life or Death

A Poem by Laura Harrison

If you fell into the icy depths of the sea

Would you sink or swim?

Would you fight against the tide?

Or would you just give in?

If you were held at gunpoint, would you be happy?

Or would you be down on your knees, begging for mercy?

Would you run out of the way of an oncoming bus?

Or would you stand there with your arms wide open and enjoy the rush?

Would you make the choice to end your life?

Or would you stick around and wait for everything to turn out alright?

Do you love the life that you are living?

Or do you waste every day, waiting for the ending?

Do you care whether you live or die?

Would you smile as your life flashed before your eyes?

If you had nothing left to lose

Life or death: which would you choose?
