When The Person You Love, Loves Someone ElseA Poem by Laura HarrisonI watch you
stare at her back; silently saying a thousand “I love you’s” with your gentle
gaze If only you
could see me looking at you that way When you
talk about her, you say her name as if it was hand-picked by a dozen Angels Well, I am
no saint, but I would be whatever you wanted me just to hear you say my name
like that one time. If you ever
got into trouble, I know that you would want her to be the one to rescue you But know
that I would get there first.
I always
wonder how my things would look at your place; My lipstick
on your favourite mug, My photograph
hung up on your wall, My body
intertwined with yours…
Everyone tells
me that I am deluded That I am
wishing for something that will never happen Like waiting
at home for a parcel that never gets delivered But it is
said that good things come to those who wait So I would
wait a hundred years to be the woman you come home to. © 2013 Laura Harrison |
