Flesh and Blood

Flesh and Blood

A Poem by Laura Harrison

You’re shutting me out

I’m having my doubts

Is what you’re telling me really true?

I try to break through

These walls that you built

Because I honestly care for you

But you make it so hard

To even like you any more

Playing the sympathy card

Why won’t you tell me what for?

What you don’t know is

I cry myself to sleep at night

I’m trying hard to forget this

Because I’m tired of the fight

But I want to understand

What is going through your mind?

And how my own flesh and blood can now be

A stranger to me
