Love Like I've Never Known

Love Like I've Never Known

A Poem by Laura Harrison

I couldn’t survive if we ever did part

But a small part of me wants to break your heart

The only love I’ve ever known is the kind that falls through

I guess I just want to end things before you do

Now that you are here I couldn’t imagine being alone

But being alone is all that I’ve ever known

I sometimes want to get back to the way I was before

Back when I had nothing to live for

It may have been hell but I knew what to expect

Now with so many things changing I just have to guess

But you keep me on the straight and narrow

And I’m glad that cupid shot us with an arrow

We have a love better than any I’ve ever known

So maybe it’s best living life unknown

Always the fear of losing. Which is sad. I learn with experience. Enjoy the moment. Life can be unfair. I like the positive ending. Better to give all without fear. For love is a gift rarely received and enjoyed. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
