I Remember Everything

I Remember Everything

A Poem by Laura Harrison

It is 2am and I am all alone

I rub my eyes and let my mind roam

To times when you were sleeping soundly beside me

When our future was bright for miles to see

I automatically reach over to the space beside me

But of course you are no longer there

And all my fingers feel are thin air

I have a hard time letting go

Because loving you is all I know

The smiles and laughs

The good and bad

I remember all that we had

That time when I told you all of my secrets

And all you said was “I love you”

I remember that too

Making love in my bed

All those sweet things you said

Stars and sunsets late at night

You right beside me holding me tight

Your light green eyes

Your beautiful smile

How you made my life worthwhile

The look in your eyes when you gave me the ring

I remember everything

The sweet beginning

The bitter end

That moment in time when our road began to bend

The tears in my eyes as you turned and left

The endless nights spent trying to forget

Staying up late waiting for your call

Knowing that it would never come at all

Trying to accept that we are over

How you lied when you promised me forever

Thinking about you and finally feeling nothing

I remember everything
