Hidden Moon

Hidden Moon

A Poem by Laura Harrison
"

This poem is about how my fiance found out that I used to self-harm and didn't judge me because of it. He is the one who helped me to recover and I am now a better person because of him.

"

Delicate whispers in the middle of the night

I spilled my heart out to you as you held me tight

You thought you knew me until today

I’m like a moon half hidden away

My skin used to glisten with blood red lines

Yet still you stayed when you saw the signs

I thought I knew you yet I was wrong

You really did care about me all along

I feel invincible when we are together

I just know our love will last forever

Stars and sunsets might shine so bright

But you will always be my favourite light

It's always such an amazing flood of relief when someone chooses not to judge you because of your bad actions. I recently relapsed just last week and haven't told my boyfriend, since I had a dream that kept occurring over and over that he got upset and decided that I needed help and that I had lied to him. It was probably the scariest dream I have ever had, but I feel it is best to let him know when the time is right and that I want him to know that I am a better person now and have been doing what I can to recover and heal myself. We can't all be perfect, no one possibly can be nowadays. We just have to push on through each day, be it good or bad, to do and be the best that we can possibly be as human beings.
