I Will Never Forget You

I Will Never Forget You

A Poem by Laura Harrison

I remember staying up until 2am

Talking about nothing with you

But it was worth the bags under my eyes

Because I love all that you say and do

Do you recall that night we almost kissed?

When the moon was full in the sky

I know that we both wanted this

But we were too afraid

So we lied

I used to think about you every single day

I thought I was in love with you

But love isn’t supposed to work that way

I guess you were just too damaged to love me

If you let me I would have set you free

From the anchor that dragged you down

I would have always been around

Now you are gone

And I don’t know what to be

But I could never hate you for deserting me

Because seasons change and so do minds

I won’t forget all those nights

We lay on the roof gazing at the city lights

I won’t forget all that we’ve been through

And I will never forget you
