The Sorting Hat's SongA Poem by Laura Marie ClarkFor a contest - a song fit for the Hogwarts Sorting HatWell here we are, all back again For another year to learn And like you’ve seen before It’s the new students’ turn To step up! Show all of us What house will suit you best Then earn your points and try to beat The students from the rest Brave Gryffindor awaits some With strong scarlet and gold To search for all your passion And the strength that makes you bold Fair Hufflepuff’s hard working In a black and yellow tie With a loyalty of members And a faith you can’t deny Or Ravenclaw might be the one The house of blue and bronze For those of sharpest mind It is the place where they belong And last ambitious Slytherin Wear green and silver with pride Their ambitious natures Show devotion deep inside So come! And sit me comfortably Atop your little head Let me see what lies within you And which house will lie ahead Whether chivalrous or patient Whether witty or sly I know them all, I’ve seen them all On me you can rely For you all now shall be sorted Into Hogwarts, into four Though we are all here united One house will suit you more
